About Wayne Macfadden MD

Based in North Dakota and in Philadelphia PA, Wayne Macfadden MD, guides the firm International Psychiatric Services with his wife Andrea. He works on the Spirit Lake Reservation in Fort Totten, North Dakota as a psychiatrist, and started a pioneering Suboxone treatment clinic for the Native American community there. Wayne Macfadden MD focuses on treating substance abuse disorders through medication-assisted treatment (MAT) that includes buprenorphine and naltrexone.

Dr. Macfadden most recently spent three years as Global Medical Affairs Director with Novartis in Basel, Switzerland, where he undertook clinical research and development focused on ophthalmological pharmaceuticals for retinal disorders. Prior to that he served as Senior Medical Director with Roche for four years, and was responsible for clinical trials within late-stage Psychiatric Drug Development.

Extensively published in his field, Dr. Macfadden authored or coauthored many manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, most recently “Methodological Approaches and Magnitude of the Clinical Unmet Need Associated with Amotivation in Mood disorders” (Journal of Affective Disorders 2014).

Wayne Macfadden MD is a Fellow in the American College of Psychiatrists and in the Philadelphia College of Physicians.
